Synergistic symbiosis with PolyMeta, AllPlus and ScienceRoll

Advancing medical search for health professionals is a hot topic. We have already reviewed SearchMedica, GoPubMed, Hakia PubMed and Semantic Medline Cognition -now we turn our attention to ScienceRoll Search Engine. This Medical Meta Search Engine is run by Bertalan Meskó who, with the help of Polymeta.com has created a well structured medical search database. The user chooses which databases to search in and which one to exclude from your list. Currently users choose from domains such as MedlinePlus, MedScape, WebMD, MD Consult, NHSdirect DrugInfo, BioMedCentral, ClinicalTrials, PubMed, MayoClinic and CochraneLibrary. The addition of MeSH terms is another great improvement. If you do a search for heart attack, it will let you know you should also consider myocardial infarction (a MeSH synonym) immediately below the search bar and within the ‘Topic Clusters’.
PolyMeta is an advanced Web 2.0 meta-search and clustering engine. PolyMeta enables organizations and individuals to simultaneously search diverse information resources on the Web with a common interface. The search results are merged, ranked and presented in relevance order. PolyMeta employs powerful Natural Language Processing and Information Retrieval algorithms in its query analysis and refinement, search strategy, relevancy ranking, focused drill-down and exploration of multi-dimensional information spaces.
AllPlus Universal Search
The AllPlus Universal Meta Search and Discovery Engine identifies and presents high quality search results from credible sources using the PolyMeta NLP engine and returns results in a clean, crisp and user friendly manner. Submitted search terms interrogate major Web content sources, such as Google, Yahoo, MSN Live and Ask.com Web pages . Further search term refinement with news, images, videos and blogs is also possible from the home page. Returned results are ‘analyzed’ (compared and ranked) prior to presentation in an intuitive and clearly organized manner.
Best features:
- High credibility of returned results
- Powerful NLP algorithm used in query analysis provides intelligent ‘relevancy ranking’
- Focused drill-down – allows the user to explore deeper with ‘surf canyon‘ style hyperlinks
- Quality spell-checker (English, Medical and Scientific Dictionaries)
- Topic Clusters with show-hide buttons enhance the search experience
- Love the Cluster Graphs
The same Bertalan Meskó is also the mastermind behind the upcoming HealthMash™ and Webicina launches!
