Feed aggregation – Swurl, FriendFeed and Newsurly
Posted by sandnsurf on September 2008
There is so much fantastic information out there and so many discoveries to be made, but how do you best collate, share and review your voluminous pixelated realizations? The answer is Feed
A friend in Feed is a Friend Indeed
Naturally there are again a multitude of aggregators to choose from, and we will review many on this blog along the way. Firstly I want to briefly describe the feed aggregation techniques of Swurl.com and FriendFeed.com and share my excitement about the impending release of Newsurly.com
Simple and effective way to aggregate all those tags and feeds. Streamlined approach to information delivery and friend addition. Great FAQ and help section explains the basics. Personally I enjoy the FriendFeed display and the ability to share such a wide variety of feeds (43 at present). I especially like the new beta layout which is well described on mashable.com.
FriendFeed is not everybody’s cup of tea as exemplified by Duncan Rileys early review, but it can be a very effective way to comment, share and review your friends web page discoveries

Lots of great ideas well executed on Swurl.com. Currently the site supports a well selected 19 websites.I really like the Swurl interface, its live subscription feed and timeline is fantastic and really easy to use. Check out this great screencast on Swurl. Certainly the site I would recommend if you are most interested in aggregating your own tag feeds, but a little clunky when it comes to reviewing your friends information/feeds – as they appear in a delayed and difficult to follow list.

Check out the buzz on Newsurly.com. Newsurly tracks conversations occurring across the social web in real-time and presents conversation data in a new, more useful and meaningful way. Newsurly is currently an alpha release with registration and dashboard features protected during testing and development.Really looking forward to seeing how this project develops…
